These mother daughter photos in Bolivar, MO ran two ways in one afternoon. First a studio set in soft blue, then a spa day, robes and all.

The studio set in soft blue

The backdrop was a pale seafoam blue. Hannah wore a light blue button-up shirt with cream wide-leg pants and tan slides. Ary wore a white floral outfit with puff sleeves. White ankle-strap shoes and white scrunchie socks finished her outfit.

Two poses carried the set. In one, Hannah leaned in behind Ary's shoulder while they both laughed. In the other, they stood back to back with their hands linked behind them and looked at the camera.

Picking outfits for a studio session

Hannah's blue and Ary's white worked with the soft blue backdrop. Each of them had her own outfit, and the colors fit together.

For your session, start with two or three colors. Then pick pieces each person likes to wear. There is more on getting ready in getting everyone out the door for your photo session.

The spa day set

The second half moved to a room with exposed red brick and a cream sofa. Both of them changed into white plush robes with gray towels wrapped on their heads.

A large cream teddy bear sat on the wood side table beside tulips in a white vase. Ary sipped a drink through a straw with the bear next to her.

In one frame, Hannah slid a pair of tortoise sunglasses onto Ary's face. Ary pressed her lips together.

Planning a mother daughter photo session
