When should you book your senior photoshoot?

This is one of the most common questions we get and also one of the most important ones to get right. Senior photos aren’t something you want to scramble on — not because they’re stressful, but because the seniors who give themselves plenty of time consistently end up with a better experience and more options. Here’s the honest breakdown.

The Short Answer: Earlier Than You Think

If you’re a junior right now and you’re reading this thinking “I’ve got time” — you do, and this is the exact right time to start thinking about it. Summer before senior year is the sweet spot for most people. The weather in the 417 is gorgeous, you’re not buried in schoolwork yet, and you have the whole year ahead of you to use your photos for college applications, announcements, and everything else senior year throws at you.

Why Summer Works So Well

Golden hour lasts longer. You have flexibility in your schedule. Senior year hasn’t started yet so practice is a little lighter and there are no big events necessarily competing for your time. And practically speaking — summer slots fill up faster than any other time of year. If you want a summer session, booking in the spring is not too early. It’s just smart.

What About Fall Sessions?

Fall is genuinely beautiful in the Ozarks and a lot of seniors love the light and color that comes with it. The thing to know about fall is that the window moves fast — the leaves peak and drop quickly and the good light gets shorter. Fall sessions are absolutely worth it, but they require more coordination and a little more flexibility on timing. Book early and be ready to move fast when the conditions line up.

The Things That Eat Your Timeline

Senior year is relentless. Sports seasons, homecoming, college applications, AP classes, senior events — it all lands at once and before you know it it’s March and you’re trying to book a session for graduation announcements that need to go out in April. We’ve helped people pull that off and we’ll always do our best, but it’s stressful and it limits your options. Bookingearly is just giving yourself the gift of not being in that situation.

When to Book Your Studio Tour

If you’re thinking about a session, it would be great to have you come check out the studio. Come in, see the space, meet us, ask your questions, talk through ideas. That conversation is where the good planning starts. We’ll help you figure out your ideal timing based on what you’re hoping to do and what makes sense for your year.

There’s no wrong time to start the conversation. There is, eventually, a too-late.

Come see us before that gets here.
