Vintage Editorial with Ellaina Porter in the 417
What do you think of when you hear the word “vintage”? For me, vintage meant fashion, old money, dramatic poses and stylistic photos, and I wanted to truly capture the essence of that word.
Ellaina checked all the boxes as a model for our Vintage Editorial! Every photo felt like it was straight out of the 1960s.
Because I wanted to showcase the fashionable side of that era, a lot of the focus for this shoot was on the props and the outfits. I had her be really dramatic with her movements and poses to draw attention to the little things. She understood the assignment perfectly! We spent a lot of the time laughing at the silly faces or poses I had her do. I even changed the lighting for some of the photos to give it that vintage feel.
This photoshoot was so much fun overall and I am OBSESSED with how these photos turned out!!
Editorial-style sessions like this one are a little different from a traditional portrait session. There's a concept driving every decision — the outfits, the props, the light, the mood. When your subject buys into that vision fully, the photos go somewhere that a standard session just doesn't reach. Ellaina was completely locked in and it made all the difference.
What I love most about looking back through this gallery is the range. Some frames feel still and intentional, almost like a magazine spread. Others caught her mid-laugh between setups, which honestly fit the vintage muse energy just as well. The best sessions tend to live in both places at once.
