Senior Photos in the Snow: Eisley

Eisley is such a joy and I really wanted this mini snow day session to bring that out while also capturing her soft, introspective side.

It's been so fun to get to know her as she has worked with me (Hi, Jordan here!) at the studio. She is kind, thoughtful, super fun and down for trotting through the frigid temps for some snowy senior photos.

Snow day sessions don't come around often in the 417. When they do, you have maybe a day — sometimes less — before it melts or turns to slush. The light on a snow day is completely unlike any other time of year. Everything is softer, more diffused, quieter. There are no harsh shadows. The whole world acts like one giant reflector and the results show up immediately in the photos. We knew we wanted to take advantage of it and Eisley was absolutely game.

What I love about this gallery is how much range we got out of a short session in a single outdoor location. Some frames are playful — Eisley laughing, moving, fully in it. Others are still and thoughtful, that introspective quality I mentioned coming through naturally once she got comfortable. That's the thing about photographing someone you know. You already understand which side of them you're trying to find, and you don't have to spend the first half of the session figuring it out.

Eisley brought that softness without being asked for it. The snow helped too. There's something about being outside in the cold and the quiet that makes people drop their guard a little. The environment does half the work and these photos are a good example of what that looks like when everything lines up.

Senior photos are worth doing even when the timing feels inconvenient or the weather feels uncertain. Actually, sometimes especially then. A snow day session like this one produces photos that look completely different from a spring or fall session, and different is memorable. Eisley's gallery stands out because of exactly that.

If you're a senior and you've been putting off booking because you're waiting for the perfect conditions, this is a good reminder that some of the best sessions happen when conditions are anything but perfect. You just need someone willing to show up and a photographer ready to go.

For Eisley specifically — watching her grow and come into her own this year has been one of the highlights of having her on the team. She brings so much to every session she works and it was genuinely special to turn the camera around and put the focus on her for a change.

So proud of you, Eisley.
