Senior Sports Session with Owen in Bolivar, MO
Owen is a senior here at Bolivar High School. He has been throwing shot put for over 6 years now. He’s gone to state the past two years as well. Owen is one of the kindest men out there, he is always wearing a smile on his face. So don’t let the big muscle appearance fool you for who Owen really is.

The Injury
Recently, towards the end of his senior wrestling season, he dislocated his right elbow in a state wrestling match, leading him to drop the tournament. A couple weeks following this injury, he focused on resting and healing. Something that Owen finds hard to do, trust me I know, as a friend of his for over 5 years now.
Little by little he started to get better. When track season came, he was in a sling for the first quarter of the season. Barely throwing, if anything he would focus on footwork. Eventually he got out of the sling and started to do little motions with his arm. Progessivly he got better, and better. He started throwing at meets, and everyday at practice.
Owen handled this injury like a champion, and recovered incredibly fast. Here is a couple words of advice that Owen had to offer after I asked him a couple questions:
How did you handle this injury so well and who helped you through it?
“I leaned on others and I leaned on God to help me through this. I would go to God in prayer a lot and would dive into his word. My girlfriend Addison was the one that really helped me out of this. She would talk me through everything going on. Bringing me peace. “
