Aileen | Senior Photographer Bolivar MO
Aileen is a Class of 2026 senior and a painter, and she brought both of those things to her session at the studio! She walked in with her canvases, her brushes, her palette full of dried acrylic, and a floral corset top she wore like she painted in it regularly. She probably does.
The paintings spread across the studio floor in image after image: a Van Gogh Sunflowers piece painted in her own hand, a landscape, a framed piece propped against the wooden stool.
I love that these are her paintings and I love that we got to photograph an artist in the studio. It’s been on my dream list for a few months now! Now to get Aileen back in the studio so I can get some photos and videos of her with her art myself.
Emma really outdid herself on this session and I love the paint on Aileen’s hands, the artist spread on the floor, the paints laid out and just the overall vibe.
If you are still working out what to bring to your own session, the unique senior session ideas post is a good starting point. Aileen is a great example of what happens when you lead with the thing you are passionate about.
Aileen's Senior Session at Jordan Brittley Studio in Bolivar, MO
The ornate gold frames she brought read warm against all that white. Her brushes, the acrylic tubes scattered across the floor, the palette she held in the seated shots: all of it made the session feel like a studio visit with someone who is passionate about their craft. As an artist myself, seeing these types of images are so fulfilling!
She wore three looks across the session. A white lace top and jeans against the window in the opening shots: easy, relaxed. A blue and white stripe shirt for the floor setup and the stool work, where the paintings were the main event. And a floral corset top for the final look, where she raised a bundle of brushes overhead and laughed and moved and a couple of shots where she painted her arm.
What Painting Brought to This Senior Session
The overhead shot of Aileen working on her Van Gogh recreation is such a fun one! And of course this piece was already done when she came in but she was up for pretending to paint it for some photos and videos. I love seeing an artist at work and especially someone who has refined their craft. Also, what a dream to be able to paint like that!
The paint-covered hand holding a bundle of brushes, the used palette resting across her lap. That is what bringing your actual life into your session looks like.
Be More You
Aileen laughing in the floral corset, paint on her forearm, brushes everywhere, completely unbothered. Senior year is a specific moment in time and it belongs to you. Aileen's gallery looks like Aileen and that’s what makes it so epic.
Be confident, embrace who you are and who you’re meant to be. I want all of that to come out in the photos we take at the studio.
Be more you. Because only you can see the world the way you do.
