Behind the Scenes of the JB Team in April

April was a lot of fun. We attempted the prop closet. Our team mascot watched the whole thing and did not help. The prop closet is still not organized, but at least it has a witness now.

‍April was one of those months that covers every corner of what bts photography at a portrait studio actually looks like. Prom season, spring minis, brand work, sports sessions, one graduation, and a prop closet intervention that got out of hand. Here is everything that went down.

Prom at the Community Gazebo

Prom season in Bolivar hits differently when you have a gazebo right in town to work with. We photographed some prom groups (whoever wanted pics) at the community gazebo this spring, and the setting does not need much help from us. There’s something really fun about the Bolivar environment where everyone knows everyone.

Spring Minis at the Studio

The spring minis at the studio are so cute this year. We have so many lovely sessions coming up on the blog and if you want to book a mini, here’s a link to get on the calendar!

JB Brand Sessions

Brand photography in the 417 has picked up steadily and April showed it. We are creating content for some brands monthly, while other brands work on building up some high-quality content for their websites, etc., while they get started. This is a really fun season for brands who are wanting high quality photo and video content

The JB Team

Productive naps? I do think so.

Cool sports photos? An absolute must.

Eisley photographed a bff senior session duo in Bolivar and I am obsessed with the light (obviously) but also the emotion in the images. She also recorded a ton of content for the studio and happyologie even while wrapping up a busy semester.

Makenzie, most importantly, baked my son a birthday cake for his birthday in the shape of a tiger. It was incredible and everything he wanted. Makenzie is so talented and we did a brand session featuring her cake business in Springfield MO. When someone has talent like that, you want to tell everyone about it. Back to business things: she went with me to a lot of my shoots, headed up some of her own, had a picnic in the park, recorded a crazy amount of content and took on extra workdays when I took some off. Thank you, Mak!

The athletes came in, got their shots, and left with galleries worth showing off. I’m obsessed with Sophie’s tennis sports session of Ella and the sports track session she did with Emma. We actually ended up with some really cool wallpaper downloads from that session! She also had fun capturing a senior road trip adventure and one of our Happyologie college students in the studio.

Emma photographed Aileen, who is a senior at Bolivar this year, and it’s one of my all-time favorite photo shoots. I have wanted to have a painter in the studio for a long time! She also photographed a weights photoshoot, a photoshoot in the studio that turned into a pickleball feature, and so many others that are about to hit the blog.

Emma and Sophie are both graduating this May! Emma celebrated with a senior session at dunnegan park and Sophie celebrated with a track session in Bolivar. Emma also booked her very first session!

The Bear Mascot

He has been in the prop closet for a while now. Did not help with the reorganization attempt. Did not move, did not offer suggestions, did not pitch in at all. He is still there. At this point he has tenure and we have stopped asking questions.

April was full. The blog posts are on their way. May is already stacking up the same way. If you are planning a senior session or any other session in the 417 area this spring, booking is open and we can’t wait to be part of your vision.
